My full name is Mónica Rexach Ortiz. I’m a graphic designer and illustrator from Puerto Rico currently living in Chicago, Illinois. I’m passionate about video games, animation, webcomics, and Disney. I’ve been drawing and painting since childhood and I aim to keep improving my skills.

I’m currently working toward a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration on Latinx Mental Health. This was inspired by my personal experience moving to the United States. I dealt with many mental health problems resulting from navigating a new, unknown culture. I want to be able to help others going through similar experiences in the future.

  • GRAPHIC DESIGNER | AUG 2021 - AUG 2024

    Worked within a small production team to lay out and proof monthly magazine issues about the video game industry. Adapted print layouts to digital platforms such as mobile apps and responsive website articles. Assisted with social media account management. Illustrated imagery when none was available. Designed promotional webpages. Managed a monthly reader art contest. Created magazine and social media templates for workflow efficiency.

    Collaborated within a large cross-functional team to create promotional materials for both print and digital spaces with the goal of increasing recruitment and retention, guiding current students to academic opportunities, and promoting the university to potential donors. Designed and authored brand guidelines. Aided communication and efficiency across campus teams by creating presentations, templates, and infographics.

    Worked within a fully integrated web team to create branded assets that aided the university’s digital presence. Mentored student consultants in the creation of brand-compliant material. Ensured digital content is accessible to a variety of users in accordance with WCAG standards.
